Embracing the Journey: Creativity, Freedom, and Finding My Path

As I continue trying to figure out and navigate this middle stage of my journey, I’m realizing that there are still so many directions to explore before I find that solid path—or maybe even two. Content creation keeps calling my name, just as much as designing shirts and hats does. And beyond that, I truly want to help other small businesses grow and put their own unique stamp on their media and apparel. But alongside all of these passions, I’m also chasing something else: more time freedom and location freedom.

Right now, I’m sitting on my patio in the beautiful Dominican Republic. Before I left for this trip, I envisioned making plenty of time for creativity. After all, I’ve always believed that water is one of my greatest creative catalysts. But vacation mode had other plans for me. Five days passed, and I found myself completely unproductive. So, does that mean my dream of being mobile and creative is out the window?

Not exactly.

As it turns out, those five days weren’t lost at all. The ideas kept flowing, even if I wasn’t sitting at my laptop executing them. Some made their way into product descriptions that are now live on the website, others took shape as half-finished graphics sitting on my computer, and the rest? They’re scribbled in the notebook that never leaves my side.

So maybe it’s okay to step away, as long as you come back and hold yourself accountable. This trip wasn’t a setback—it was proof that inspiration doesn’t disappear just because the laptop is closed. I know where I want to go; it’s just about navigating the middle and staying open to the journey.

And, as for my client project? I started with a blank slate and now have a whirlwind of ideas to bring back to them. So, I’d say this entire trip was a win.

Here’s to embracing the middle, wherever it may take us.
