Stepping Out of the Box: The Journey of Building Tumbleweed
Share
My first blog post... wow, this is something I’ve envisioned over and over, yet each time, fear, uncertainty, and the unknown would creep in and keep me stuck. I’d tell myself, “I’ll do it tomorrow,” but tomorrow kept turning into another day.
Owning a business is hard, and starting a new one is even harder. I already have a business and career that I love, but in recent years, I’ve felt an undeniable pull to step outside the “box” and explore new possibilities. I’ve brainstormed a mile-long list of topics to write about, yet my list of procrastination techniques always seemed longer. Fear has been a driving force behind my hesitation. I’ve always thought of myself as bold and brave, but maybe that’s just a comforting story I’ve told myself.
Eventually, I overcame those internal objections and decided to take the leap. I started this new business, thinking I had a crystal-clear image of what it would look like and the goals I wanted to achieve. But as I’ve moved forward, I’ve learned that shifting gears midway is not just okay—it’s often necessary. So, as you join me on this journey, you’ll witness the transformation of Tumbleweed from what it was initially intended to be into what it’s truly meant to become.
While my vision has evolved, it hasn’t fundamentally changed—it has simply expanded. I’m still passionate about offering fun, unique, and customizable apparel. However, I’ve realized I want Tumbleweed to be so much more than that. My goal is to bring a boutique essence to the designs I create while also supporting other small businesses in their journeys. I want to help fellow business owners develop private-label apparel lines and provide them with marketing materials that stand out from the crowd. I’m still working on the best way to describe this vision, but I’m excited to see it come to life.
So here it is—my first blog post. It’s imperfect, but it’s authentic. And that’s a great place to start. Thank you for joining me on this path of discovery, growth, and creativity. Together, let’s see where this journey takes us.
